Jordan Green Building Council participated in a project launched by the Greater Amman Municipality and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development to prepare an action plan for Amman as a green city, after joining the framework of green cities as the first city in the southern and eastern Mediterranean region. The Council, represented by its experts, was one of the technical arms of this project, as it assessed the city's determinants of energy, water and transportation, and linked them to the necessary legislation to transform Amman into a green city.
The action plan was launched virtually by the Greater Amman Municipality through a virtual event under the auspices of the Mayor of Amman, Yousef Al-Shawarbeh. The plan included many future projects that deal by their nature with the main challenges that the city suffers from, and work in partnership with state institutions, civil society organizations and local communities to identify the most important challenges facing the city and address them through solutions that guarantee the sustainability of the city, preserve its resources and make it eligible for a healthy life.
