Ruba A. Al-Zu’bi

With over 15 years of professional experience in sustainable development policy and planning, environmental reform (regulatory and institutional), sustainability mainstreaming into development sectors, strategic planning, project management, policy and organizational development and donor coordination. Ruba Al-Zu’bi has contributed to the successful implementation of a number of key reform and development projects in the sustainable development arena. Her key areas of expertise include sustainable development, Development/Special Economic Zones, investment climate, environmental governance, compliance management as well as public sector reform. Ruba is proud to have been selected by the Jordanian Government to set the environmental sustainability portfolio in relation to investment and she managed to introduce an integrated approach for setting and managing development/special economic zones in Jordan incorporating water and energy planning sides as well.

Al-Zu’bi is very active in the NGOs and Business Associations field and is a co-founder of the Jordan Green Building Council. She has facilitated its organizational establishment and strategic planning process and led its membership and networking committee during its first 2 years. Ruba was selected as Jordan’s Eisenhower Fellow for 2012 (a very prestigious leadership fellowship) through which she investigated green economy, green buildings and sustainability policy in the US; and was named as 2012 Ward Wheelock Fellow for her outstanding contributions to her community.

Ruba currently pursues her passion to promote green economy and green jobs through her advisory work at EDAMA Association which is a Jordanian business association that seeks innovative solutions to advance the EWE (energy, water and environment) sectors through four main pillars: policy advocacy and investment climate support, public-private dialogue, awareness raising, and capacity building (EDAMA is hosting the AEE Energy Chapter in Jordan).

Al-Zu’bi holds a Master degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering, a Mini MBA, and in the process of obtaining UNITAR Diploma in International Environmental Law. She was trained to become a Consultant and Change Agent for Organizational Development. Ruba received senior-level training in Jordan, UK, EU, US on leadership, reform and sustainability.
