About Northern Cement Company in Jordan.

After a Jordanian market study concentrating on construction sector, Northern Cement Company was established in early 2007, and transferred to public share holding company during 2010 with a capital of 90 million Dollars to provide high quality products according to the highest specifications and technical standards.

We have worked on local community services by finding job vacancies, donations to schools, Mosques and Houses, in addition to educational financing to some of the local community.

 

Our Location

Northern Cement Factory is located in Mwaqqar, 40 km East of Amman, a strategic location near the main cement consumer region additional to other North and South provinces in Jordan.

Northern Cement has gone beyond the Jordanian cement market tradition since 1954, and created a new quality and pricing competition by using the latest production technology and after sale services. Keeping close eyes and working hand to hand with consumers and end users.

 

Mission

We assure the best quality of raw materials by continues testing and analysis, using our higher technology laboratories which are managed and operated by highly qualified Jordanian man power, whom we are proud of, using environmental friendly standards, by pushing a culture to the end users attention that cement types including pozzolana additives is a preferable type to use in concrete mix.

 

About Cement.

Cement is considered as an Inorganic Substance acts as hydraulic binder during mixing with water and aggregate to form a hardened concrete paste as a result of hydration reactions. Because of enough time durability increasing and stable volume below water surface to develop compressive strength.

Cement is a combination result from heating limestone, Clay, Sand and Iron Slag to form an intermediate Clinker material which grinding with additives such as Gypsum and Pozzolana to produce Cement .

Cement is composed of four major chemical compounds which are main oxides elements of Calcium, Silica, Aluminum, Iron and Sulfur trioxide.

Production.

Our main objective is to cover the market demand and improve the cement production sector by creating a healthy environment, avoiding pollution, creating new cement market competition, and supplying our highest quality of cement. In September 2009, Northern Cement started producing all types of cement according to market demands, the main products produced are:

Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) CEM I 42.5

Portland Pozzolanic Cement (PPC-A) CEM II 42.5

Portland Pozzolanic Cement (PPC-B) CEM II 42.5

Portland Pozzolanic Cement (B) CEM II 32.5

 

Northern Cement products are all according to Jordanian Standards:

JS 30-1:2007 and BS EN 197-1:2000.

Northern Cement is looking forward to improve the cement industry; in terms of product and quality, with addition to introduce local and exporting markets with several demanded types of a healthy environment cement Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) CEM I 52.5 and Sulfur Resistant Cement (SRC).

 

 

 

 

Portland Pozzolanic Cement Benefits of Use:

“Pozzolana” used in Portland Pozzolana Cement production is defined as natural volcano raw materials which in itself possess little or no cementing property, but will in a finely divided form- and in the presence of moisture –chemically react with calcium hydroxide at normal temperatures to form compounds possessing cementations’ properties.

 

And helps in:

1- Economic Savings.

2- Improve the shape and finishing of the concrete mix.

3- Low specific weight comparing with Ordinary Cement.

4- Reduce shrinkage and heat of hydration (as a result during first stage when water addition applied to concrete mix) which causes concrete cracks by expansion effects.

5- Reduced Alkali Silica reactivity, by Pozzolana combination with alkalis from cement that might otherwise combine with aggregates’ active silica, which would potentially destructive expansion.

6- Reduce an expansion effect caused by free magnesium by replacing a similar safe ratio of reacted magnesium in Pozzolana contents.

7- Increase the late strength of the concrete, by improve concrete workability with less effort responding better vibration to fill form, and consequently improve paste to aggregate contact results in bond strength.

8- Lessening Air Undressing Factors across the time, so the best proof evidence is a historical establishments which built by Pozzolana rocks.

9- Reduce the permeability of concrete and thus reduce the hollow channels, by filling the bleed channels with a produced compound as a result of free lime combination with Pozzolana, so the concrete will accept more density on the inside.

10- Reduce sulfate attack, and make concrete more resistant to adverse chemical reactions and resistant to sea water, as a similar behavior of Sulfate Resistant Cement.

11- Environmental friendly when the Pozzolana is added to the clinker, the CO2 that comes from the clinker burning is reduced.

12- Latest International Studies about Pozzolana material (which used in cement production as additives) indicate that the benefits of Pozzolana as followings:

  1. a) Lessening environmental noise polluting because of the ability of noise absorbance and the echo sonic isolation.
  2. b) May considered as a heat insulator, and Increase the buildings resistance against fires because of high temperature containment of Pozzolana contents, so the best proof evidence is a built design of chimneys and ovens from this cement type.
